General Manager – Solar PV Distribution (based in the UK)

Our client is a major distributor in the Solar PV world and due to rapid growth in the UK and Ireland the company is seeking candidates with experience in the Solar distribution or manufacturing sectors and we are currently looking to hire a General Manager


  • Building the subsidiary UK office from scratch
  • Taking full responsibility for opening the new office
  • Overseeing all sales operations in the UK & Ireland region
  • Developing sales plans and strategies to meet sales targets
  • Manage detailed sales expectations and plan accordingly
  • Recruiting and managing the sales team
  • Liaising and working closely with the Board (in particular the Chief Commercial Officer) and international sales teams on a daily basis
  • Motivating teams in reaching and achieving their targets
  • Identifying areas for improvement and developing success-driven plans
  • Working directly with the Board on expansion plans within the UK market
  • Managing relationships with Clients


  • Willingness to play a key role in the business
  • Strong business acumen
  • 4+ years’ experience in a similar role: General Manager, Country Manager, Commercial Director, etc, in the renewable energy sector
  • A broad network of contacts within the renewable energy industry
  • A track record of substantial successful sales
  • People-oriented management and leadership skills and an ability to be the change leader
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to handle several prioritised tasks at once
  • A strong and dynamic personality
  • Experience working in an international environment
  • Ability to make business-oriented decisions independently
