Senior Consultants – Renewables (Owner’s Engineer or Independent Engineer)
Our client has a long track record of supporting companies to develop and construct outstanding utility scale renewable energy projects worldwide. Due to further business growth, we are searching for Senior Consultants with experience in Renewables to work out of the Cape Town office (for the right candidates, there is a possibility to hybrid work remotely from other locations in SA). In this role you will support growth across South African and global renewables projects while offering consulting engineering services through investment support and technical advisory. You will find yourself working on a range of solar, wind and battery energy storage projects including interacting and overlapping with your colleagues in other renewables business units worldwide working flexibly across borders so you can expect to work on projects in multiple geographies, including undertaking occasional international travel to other offices, client sites for meetings.
The Role:
In this role you will be focused on delivering services in the renewable energy sector as either Owner’s Engineer or Independent Engineer which may include: feasibility studies, project design, project development services, technical due diligence, construction monitoring, acceptance testing, performance and operational services, as well as involvement in winning and delivering new projects across the globe.
Responsibilities may include:
Delivery –
•Support execution of technical due diligence or Owner’s Engineer services on large scale energy storage, solar PV and/or wind projects for Investors, Lenders, IPPs and Developers
•Monitoring and reporting on projects through the construction and operational phases
•Providing technical engineering support on projects at all stages of the project development cycle
•Reviewing or developing (as per candidate’s specific experience) of energy resource assessment reports, technology assessments, structural studies, electrical design, contractual documentation, environmental studies, planning permission, health and safety reports, or grid connection documentation
•Contributing to business development activities i.e. development of new solutions, proposal writing and client presentations.
Coordination –
•Project manage large and/or complex pieces of work
•Contribute to growth, taking on new responsibilities in markets or sectors and supporting the smooth running of the team
•Collaborate with the wider teams across the Group, including technical head, country heads, and service leads
•Play an active role in the development of the renewables team in the region.
Setting the standard –
•Progressing our best practice and working standards for consulting within the company
•Developing in-house tools for delivering and managing work effectively
•Establishing guidelines for consultants to follow and training them to achieve a consistent approach/output.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in STEM subjects, master’s or PhD in related subject advantageous
•Eligibility to live and work in South Africa
•Minimum of 6 years’ relevant career experience
•Substantial knowledge and experience in relation to at least one of wind energy, solar PV or energy storage technologies
•Prior experience in senior owners engineering or independent engineering roles at an engineering consultancy advantageous
